Hailing from the heart of Appalachia in Russell County VA, 49 Winchester's sound is drenched with blues, soul, southern rock, and country influences. An eclectic blend of musicians from different backgrounds, they have forged out a genre bending sound that is uniquely their own. Lead singer & guitarist Isaac Gibson's powerful raspy vocals and honest lyrics, supported by a muscled 3 guitar attack, steel guitar, and a rock solid rhythm section provide a sound and spirit laden with emotion, both high and low.
Since making their start in late 2013, the young band has released two albums, performed at prestigious venues, and paved their path to being a midlevel festival band after being featured at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, Mountain Music Festival, Appalachian Trail Days, Road to LOCKN' Festival, Nashville Music City Brewer's Fest, Red Barn Radio, Road to Hoopla, The Howling, Bearded Man’s Music Festival, Rt. 23 Festival, KY RiverJam, & more.
Their 2018 sophomore album "The Wind" was self-produced at Bristol VA's Classic Recording Studio with Mike Stephenson and features driving electric guitars and drums matched with jangling mountain banjo melodies. The 11 poetically straight-forward tracks touch on the topics of despair, love, & self-reflection with emotion & excitement that mirrors the energy of their live performance.
“49 WINCHESTER CANNOT BE TIED DOWN. Six years after their inception, the Castlewood, VA quintet are no longer “the new kids on the block”, and have inspired a wave of young bands in their region with their seamless fusion of rock&roll, country, and blues, and with their infallible DIY approach to everything surrounding their music.”
Live shows will be looking a little different in order to do our part with social distancing while still filling the space we have available efficiently. The garage door at the rear of our stage will remain open during all performances so that you can enjoy the show from inside our venue space OR in our outdoor courtyard. Tickets will be sold as table reservations. There are tables for groups of 2,3,4,6, and 8 people. You must purchase the entire table in order to make a table reservation. We do not issue physical tickets; however, your name will be on a guest list when you arrive for the show.
