Tuesday casual collaborations at 185 King Street are the result of what has now been over a year-long series that Travis Book started to fulfill a need for live music during the pandemic period. When music venues around the country were closed we pivoted to find a way to provide live music to our community. Open air and spaced out, we prevailed. Every Tuesday since August of 2020, Travis has assembled 3-4 musicians for a unique night of music. After more than a year, the series has become the cornerstone of the Brevard music community; bringing musicians and music fans together for one-time-only collaborations. Travis has hosted a wide range of musicians, including: Mike Ashworth, Anders Beck, Nicki Bluhm, Josh Daniel, Andy Dunnigan, Benny “Burle” Galloway, Mike Guggino, Lindsay Lou, Tommy Maher, Mimi Naja, Lyndsay Pruett, Rev. Matthew Reiger, Jon Stickley, Barrett Smith, Kyle Tuttle, and Jon Weisberger and is now occasionally handing the mic over to let some of his friends take the lead. Every week is different, but it’s not just a jam; the musicians bring intention to every setlist and every show and as a result, these carefully cultivated shows are becoming a cornerstone of the WNC music scene.

This week's featured guest will be Jordan Tice:

Jordan Tice is a singer/songwriter who combines witty musings on life, relationships, and time with deft finger-picking acoustic guitar skills. On his 5th record, Motivational Speakeasy, he breaks it down to just his voice and acoustic guitar for a collection of music that is while deeply informed by the rich history of American folk music, forward-thinking and modern in its conceit. Produced by Kenneth Pattengale (of The Milk Carton Kids), Motivational Speakeasy contains evidence of a variety of influences. From the classic Mississippi John Hurt style melodic blues of "Matter of Time" and "Goin on Down", to the dissonant Tom Waits-like shuffle of "Creation's Done" to the philosophical early Dylanesque chatter of "Walkin'" and "Where I'm At", Tice spins his influences into a variety of highly personal, well-crafted songs. In addition, the album contains 3 instrumental tracks where Tice showcases his narrative guitar-playing and composing with performances that range from British Isles

We plan to have the garage door closed for this show.  Tables are on sale for the space right in front of the stage and the back area will be standing room (where table #1 and #2 or on this diagram).
