The Super 60s.... A musical retrospective of one of Americas most turbulent periods. The joy and celebration of Woodstock, the enigma of Vietnam, the tragic loss of the Kennedys, and man landing on the moon. A period of time in which so much was happening, so fast, that those of us who lived through it sometimes wonder how we made it. But we did-- and here's proof.... music that will bring back the feeling and memories of those days. The Super 60s is a unique presentation in that we strive to re-create the atmosphere of the 60's thru not only the music, but also through audio and visual techniques that were relevant in that period. So turn on your Lava Lamp, Light some Incense, Throw on your Bell Bottoms, Slip on your Tie-Dye shirt and take a trip with The Super 60s .

Born in Oklahoma and raised in the small town of Flint Texas, Kenny Freeman's music is a distinct mixture of his upbringing. Combining the sounds of Red Dirt Country and Texas Blues with personal stories of women, whiskey, hard times, and sung by a voice full of passion makes it easy to see straight into the soul of Kenny Freeman's music. A third generation musician, Kenny was constantly surrounded by jam sessions comprised of his father, his uncle and their friends. He would wait patiently, sitting in the corner listening, until it was his turn to step forward and play whatever instrument was available. At a young age he found Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan, which led him on a never ending journey into the depths of blues history. Mix that in with a love for songwriters like Townes Van Zandt, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Lyle Lovett, and a unique mix is conjured that elicits thoughts of the past and a hard travelled road ahead.

"Sid Kingsley is a modest man. He doesn’t think of himself as any more than simply a journeyman musician. After a few false starts, he came to the realization that making music was all he ever wanted to do, and while he doesn’t trumpet his skill and ability, it’s obvious at the outset that the man is easily one of the most talented artists making his bow in recent memory. He’s content to write and record his songs. But the profound talent at work here is evident upon hearing the opening title track of Good Way Home -- talent that boasts a wellspring of honesty and conviction, fresh and formative with a wisdom and authenticity that’s as old as the ages.

We partnered up with NC Songsmiths to bring you a dose of quality, original, free music every Wednesday from 8-10. Some have said Ryan Furstenberg's voice brings to mind a cool mountain stream, or tobacco leaves swept by the Eastern North Carolina breeze. With that rich and southern accented baritone, the accomplished guitarist, banjo player and convention-bucking songwriter can't help showing his NC roots. But Furstenberg doesn't stay earthbound; he has spent the past decade or so performing throughout the United States and Western Europe. Both as a solo act, a member of rock trio Uncle Mountain, and as half of The Moon and You - an indie folk duo based in Asheville, NC - Furstenberg is making a name for himself by never sounding quite like anyone else.

It wasn't a given that these musicians would wind up in anything remotely resembling a bluegrass band. Singer Melody Walker got into world music and belted out roots-rock. Bassist Jeremy Darrow studied jazz. Leif Karlstrom trained as a classical violinist, and still prefers that title to "fiddle player." Mandolinist Adam Roszkiewicz studied classical guitar at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Singer-Songwriter from Charlotte, North Carolina Caleb Wolfe started his career at a young age. He started in church pews sitting on the front row just so he could watch the musicians and bang on his air drums. By high school he had built up his talent to singing on stage guitar in hand. He also enjoyed gathering around campfires with friends and family. His first single ‘Slow Dancing in A Parking lot’ was released in July of 2011. In 2012 his single ‘Love is On the Move’ was released under BoTT Records. Influenced by artist like Chris Stapleton, Travis Tritt, John Mayer, NeedToBreathe, Amos Lee, Marc Broussard, Willie Nelson and more fans of Caleb Wolfe will enjoy the traces of folk, country and alternative favorites of the late 90s. His lyrical and vocal authenticity makes his music feel both original, but yet warmly familiar. His newest single “Small Town Country Love” an acoustic country-rock anthem produced by Matt Houston under Balancing Act Records, LLC. And Don Parsons CEO of BoTT music Publishing for his hometown in Gaston County.

Empire Strikes Brass (ESB) is a high energy Brass-Funk-Rock band hailing from the city of Asheville, North Carolina. Formed on the streets of their hometown, ESB is rooted in the New Orleans Brass Band tradition of second-line parades and deep moving grooves reminiscent of old school funk. Combining complex musical arrangements with thoughtful lyrical song structure, ESB can stretch out and dig deep when they are feeling it or keep things tight and concise. The fat sound of the horns paired with one dirty rhythm section makes the music downright psychedelically nasty! Founded in 2012, ESB intentionally stretches the boundaries of the stereotypical brass band paradigm, fusing sounds from various genres and weaving them together with the common thread of brass. The diversity of the music within their sets keep audiences guessing what is next to come.

Their music is strongly rooted in the hard clay dirt of the Western North Carolina Mountains! We believe in the healing power of music. Changing the world one song a a time! Carolyn Bane is the bands bass player and harmony vocalist. She made her way here from Chicago, through the rolling countryside of England, down into the bustling music scene of the late 60's and early 70's music scene in London and San Fransisco, up into the long cold winters in Canada and the lazy summer days in the Islands. We are so glad she finally landed here in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Carolyn has played with many great musicians through the years and Blown Glass is honored to have her lend her talents to this band. Keturah is especially happy because in 2006 Carolyn said "I Do". She and Keturah were married in a beautiful ceremony just outside of Brevard and have been rockin' this road together ever since. Keturah Orr is the bands guitar picker and lead vocalist. She was born and raised right here in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Legend has it that she came out of the womb singin'. All she knows is that she can't seem to shut it off. She feels blessed to be able to share her message of hope and love. She feels strongly that music has the power to heal. She wants to be able to share if only for a moment the joy she has found through song. She also believes in good ol' fun and hell raisin' so come on out and enjoy the ride with her and the rest of the band!

We are excited to welcome Anna Lynch back to 185 King Street, and this time she will have her band to back up her incredible vocals. Joe Trimbach on fiddle/mandolin, Mark Bumgarner-electric/acoustic lead guitars, Tom Driessen on double bass, and Anna on guitar/vocals Anna Lynch is a native Californian, born and raised in the small wine country town of Sebastopol, California, and now residing in a small town on the outskirts of Asheville, North Carolina. Her musical underpinnings were formed by her parents in the California bay area folk scene and honed in the back-country of Alaska where she earned her first accolades as a band leader and songwriter. Lynch is an in- demand vocalist, songwriter, and with her unique “right hand strum” on the guitar is finding success across many genres and with fans of all musical tastes. One minute you find yourself with tears in the corner of your eye and the next with a smile on your face. It’s all delivered with a sincerity that is authentic and genuine. Her self-titled debut album, released in 2013 to critical acclaim, was heralded as “one of my favorite albums”, “something real that you can endlessly fall into love with”, “a compelling honesty to the writing and a clear truth to the delivery of every single line”, “a true recording artist”, and Country Music Television (CMT Edge) profiled her song Railroad Man from the release (available for preview on her website). Her songs speak to all-audiences because everyone can relate to the stories and the way they are told. Anna has lived a lot in her time and her songs tell of that life. It’s relatable, honest, and above all else it’s real and her fans know it. When she sings, you believe what she has to say. Why? Because every letter of every word of every line has been lived by her inch to feet and yard to mile.
